Use the free Adult BMI Calculator on ToolVexa to check body mass index for adults. Enter your weight and height, press Calculate, and your adult BMI and category appear straight away.
How to Use
Enter your weight in kilograms and your height in centimetres, then press Calculate. The result box shows your BMI to one decimal place and the adult category it falls in.
Formula in Plain Words
Adult BMI is weight in kilograms divided by height in metres squared. Turn centimetres into metres by dividing by 100, square that number, and divide your weight by the result.
Worked Example
For a weight of 70 kg and a height of 175 cm, height in metres is 1.75 and 1.75 squared is 3.0625. Dividing 70 by 3.0625 gives about 22.9, which is in the Normal adult band from 18.5 up to 25.
FAQs
Why is this calculator for adults only?
Adult BMI bands are fixed cut-offs. Children and teenagers use age and sex percentiles instead, so this adult version should not be used for them.
What does a BMI of 30 mean?
A BMI of 30 is the start of the Obese band in the adult scale used here. It is a screening guide, not a diagnosis on its own.
Should I use kilograms or pounds?
Use kilograms in this calculator, for example 70. If you only know pounds, divide by 2.2046 first to get kilograms.
