BMI Calculator

Use the free BMI Calculator on ToolVexa to get a quick, easy picture of your weight in relation to your height. Enter your numbers, press Calculate, and your result appears straight away.

How to Use

Enter your weight in kilograms and your height in centimetres, then press Calculate. Your body mass index and its band will be shown in the result box.

Formula in Plain Words

BMI is your weight in kilograms divided by your height in metres squared. First turn centimetres into metres by dividing by 100, then square that number and divide your weight by it.

Worked Example

For a weight of 70 kg and a height of 175 cm, height in metres is 1.75, and 1.75 squared is 3.0625. Dividing 70 by 3.0625 gives a BMI of about 22.9, which falls in the Normal band.

FAQs

What does a BMI of 25 mean?

A BMI of 25 is at the start of the Overweight band, which begins at 25 and runs up to just below 30.

Is BMI the same for everyone?

No. BMI is a simple screening guide only. It does not separate muscle from fat, so very muscular people and some older adults should read it alongside other health measures.

Should I enter height in centimetres or metres?

Use centimetres in this calculator, for example 175. The calculator converts centimetres to metres for you.
