Formula in Plain Words
Turn both dates and times into moments on a timeline, subtract the start from the end, and split the gap into whole days, then the hours left over, then the minutes left over. Total hours are the total minutes divided by 60.
Worked Example
From 2026-10-24 09:00 to 2026-10-25 11:30 is 1 day, 2 hours and 30 minutes. That is 26.50 hours in total, or 1590 minutes in total.

What format should I type?
Use YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM, with a 24-hour time, for example 2026-10-24 09:00.
Can the end be before the start?
No. The end must be after the start, otherwise the calculator asks you to check the two entries.
Is the result affected by time zones?
No, as long as both times are in the same time zone, the gap between them is the same.
