Animal Based Macro Calculator

Use the free Animal Based Macro Calculator on ToolVexa to split daily calories into protein, carbohydrate and fat for an animal-based eating plan. Enter your calories and your target percentages, and get grams for each macro.

How to Use

Enter your daily calorie target and the percentage of calories you want from protein, carbohydrate and fat. The percentages work best when they add up to 100, then press Calculate.

Formula in Plain Words

Multiply calories by each percentage, then divide by 100 to get calories from that macro. Divide protein and carbohydrate calories by 4, and fat calories by 9, because those are the calories in one gram of each macro.

Worked Example

With 2,400 calories, 35% protein, 10% carbohydrate and 55% fat, protein is 210.0 g, carbohydrate is 60.0 g, and fat is 146.7 g.

FAQs

What if my percentages do not add to 100?

The calculator still shows the grams for each percentage, and it also shows the total so you can adjust them.

Is this medical advice?

No. It is a planning tool only. Talk to a clinician or dietitian before changing your diet.

Why is fat divided by 9?

Because fat provides about 9 calories per gram, while protein and carbohydrate provide about 4 calories per gram.
